In Macbeth by William Shakespeare, Lady Macbeth refers to gender in her soliloquy because she is comparing women to men in that men should be more brutal and ruthless. " What thou art promised . Yet do I fear thy nature; it is too full o th' milk of human kindness." Act 1 Scene 5. Lady Macbeth addresses gender in this quote by saying that men should be meaner and not as nice as he is. His human nature is to nice to carry out the deed he needs to carry out to become king.
" And fill me from the crown to the toe top-full of direst cruelty. Make thick my blood." Act 1 Scene 5. This quote shows that Lady Macbeth wants to be filled with fickle from men so she can become meaner and more ruthless. Because she is a woman, she thinks that she need the blood of actual men to become ruthless. In conclusion, Lady Macbeth think men are fundamentally crueler and should be able to kill without much problem at all.
